Each Applicant will receive a contestant ID at the time of application. As performances are judged anonymously, Applicant's and/or pianist's name must not appear anywhere on the submitted CDs or DVD.

The required song by Larry Alan Smith, (for Applicants of both Divisions) is available via download for US $5.00, payable through PayPal, exclusively by clicking on one of the links below:

1. Choose a key - Decide which key is best for you (those are PDF files that will open in a new window):

Low Key

The material of the Applicant's choice shall include songs generally deemed suitable for recital presentation. No opera or oratorio arias are accepted.

While applicants are welcome to submit the DVD with the initial application, only the audio recording will be used in the judging of the first round. Judges for the final round will be judging the video recording exclusively.

Each song must be on a separate track. The contestant ID must be marked on each CD with either a label or soft felt-tipped marker (ballpoint or other hard-tipped pens may render the CD unplayable). The track order listed on the application must be the same as the track order on the CD.

The CD and DVD recordings shall be of high-enough quality that the voices are clearly represented. Electronic piano accompaniment is not acceptable. A recording with excess studio or venue reverberation is not acceptable. If a professional studio recording is not available or feasible, self-recorded performances of adequate quality and without intrusive noise are acceptable. Poorly recorded performances will not be considered.

By submitting the completed Application, each Applicant grants the Lotte Lehmann Foundation the right to broadcast and commercially release each Applicant's (and collaborative pianist's) submitted recordings in any media, and to use each Applicant's name, voice, image, likeness and biographical materials, as well as those of their collaborative pianist, in connection with CyberSing without remuneration.

No submitted item(s) will be returned to the sender. Neither the Lotte Lehmann Foundation nor CyberSing is responsible for any lost or damaged items.

Only semi-finalists and winners will be contacted. After the initial submission, singers or pianists may contact the Lotte Lehmann Foundation only to supply a change in address or email.

Any infraction of these rules or requirements may result in disqualification.

Judging and Awards

A Committee of Judges for the Preliminary Round will select, by October 15, 2008, as many as twenty (20) but no fewer than ten (10) semi-finalists from each Division to be advanced to the final round. At this time, semi-finalists will be required to submit a DVD recording of their repertoire by 15 November 2008, if they have not already done so. A second Committee of Judges will select the final winners from among these semi-finalists.

The Judges for the Final Round may choose to award all of the prizes, some of the prizes, or none of the prizes. All decisions are final.

The winners will be contacted and requested to submit biographies and photos to the Foundation no later than 15 February 2009.

The winners and prizes will be announced on or before 31 January 2009. Winning audio and video performances will be made available on the internet.
