TV documentary possibly in the works

Rita Nasser was scouting information sources in the US this summer for potential material for a proposed TV documentary on the life and work of Lotte Lehmann. It has been proposed by a German/Austrian television production group, with some possibilities of US public television aid as well

Nothing is written in stone or tape as yet, but the prospects look good. [Website users note: the documentary was successful and broadcast in German and Austria in 1996 and called "Stimme des Herzens".] Old 1930s home movie footage of and by Lehmann was unearthed by Frances Holden during Ms. Nasser's visit to Santa Barbara. The films are being restored.
