The Third Annual Art Song Contest



CyberSing 2004: See and Hear the winners

The Third Annual Art Song Contest took place in 1999. Many tapes of art song singers arrived and11semi-finalists were chosen. They were heard in the 28 July 1999 broadcast of Great Songs. Four finalists from that group were chosen: shown in the photo from left to right: Beatrice Lemke-Frieszell, Mark A. Boyle, Phyllis Haines, (MC Gary Hickling) and Quinn Kelsey. They shared a recital September 24, 1999 at Orvis Auditorium, University of Hawai'i, Manoa, which was broadcast on Great Songs on Wednesday, November 24, 1999 and again on Sunday, December 26, 1999 on KHPR (88.1 FM) and KKUA (90.7 FM). You can hear each of these winners sing one song from their program below.
